We can protect and backup all supported Windows machines on your network using our secure online backup and disaster recovery solutions. This might cover a specific document folder on a key file server or an entire Domain Controller, giving you flexibility and control. By creating a backup of a server’s complete configuration, a machine can be recovered to its original state at the time of backup, even if the original server has been lost completely.
On Windows XP / Server 2003 and above, our software can also utilize the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) provided by Microsoft. This service allows our software to backup files that are locked and in use by other programs and even database systems that support this feature of Windows.
Conveniently, just a single installation of our software solution on a single Windows machine within your Local Area Network (LAN) is needed, as well as a dedicated user account with access to the resources on your network that will be backed up.
How is this done without agents?
Unlike other backup solutions that require remote agents to be installed on every Windows server, our agentless software will integrate itself with the Windows platform it is installed on. Using native Windows API procedures exposed by the platform, it will then remotely access files on the other machines using Windows alone – just like a user browsing a network share for their personal documents.
This agentless method not only simplifies the setup process, but reduces the administration overhead by reducing installation tasks to a single machine on the network.
How much data is on my network?
Once our software is installed, we can start a process known as ‘LAN Discovery’. This will silently scan your entire network for resources that can be backed up. Using the information produced by this scan we can determine what data needs to be protected – and identify all duplicated data on your network, which is this automatically excluded during backups. By automatically de duplicating all backups we significantly reduce your backup windows and reduce your costs.
