Data loss incidents keep happening regardless of all the measures in place that authorities on the subject have asked councils and agencies to take. In the latest data loss incident, it was found that a memory stick which contained confidential information about children, was lost by a member of the Neath Port Talbot Council.
As soon as the memory stick was discovered missing, relevant authorities were contacted and were asked to set up an investigation regarding the missing data. A carer from the council said, the sensitive information was about defenceless children and if the data was released, it could put their lives at risk. The anonymous carer also said that it would probably be inappropriate to comment further on the incident until the investigation was over.
