Our IBM certified software solution has the ability to backup a live IBM System I / iSeries / AS 400 machines without the use of any agents. Using our software, you can protect and back up an entire server, or just the business critical libraries you need. Our software will even give you the granularity to backup single objects within libraries.
To be able to backup IBM System I / iSeries / AS 400 servers you need a single Linux installation of our software solution, or a single Windows installation of our software solution alongside the IBM iSeries Navigator client.
How is this done without agents?
Our software uses the API procedures exposed by Linux and the Windows IBM iSeries Navigator client to remotely communicate with the IBM System I / iSeries / AS 400 machine, allowing it to request libraries and objects for backup.
This means you do not need to make any adjustments to your machine whatsoever. You only need the credentials you would use with IBM iSeries Navigator – our software will do the rest.
