Backup Technology Chosen to Secure International Baccalaureate’s Data
Backup Technology, the UK’s leading online backup and disaster recovery provider, has been selected by the International Baccalaureate (IB), to centralise and remotely back up more than 3 terabytes of data from five offices around the world.

Prior to working with Backup Technology, each of the IB’s regional offices was responsible for its own data, relying on tape storage which is difficult to manage, time consuming, vulnerable to damage, theft or loss and impossible to secure completely. By moving to a remote backup system with Backup Technology, these problems were eliminated and a 100% failsafe system was implemented as data from the four regional offices located in Buenos Aires, Geneva, New York, and Singapore is backed up and daily reports are sent to the administrative office in Cardiff to verify the process was successful.
The system was initially trialled in the Geneva office, as Jonathan Birkbeck, ICT systems engineer at the IB recounts:
