My introductory post comes direct from the 2009 Gartner Business Continuity Conference in Chicago. I have been invited to speak about one of our flagship customers, the British Red Cross, to explain how they have protected over 200 sites using our remote backup solution.

Some of my colleagues have said there is a direct link between my first blog post and me being on an ego boosting jolly to Chicago. Of course such rumours are completely and utterly true.
So far the Gartner experience has been great fun. The delegates are senior Enterprise IT department heads all of whom have Data Backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity in their portfolio. They are a switched on bunch and from the many in depth conversations I have had they all know their stuff. I have also had a chance to chat to a number of the Gartner Analysts, including Dave Russell who is their lead man on Storage, Backup and Recovery.
In the next few days I will report back with some more observations – as well as a report on how my presentation went – perhaps with some photographic evidence
